Towing Middlesex County NJ: common questions, answered the way dispatch answers them
Look for your question, read the answer, then call if you need a truck. Every answer here matches what the dispatcher says on the phone.
What Middlesex County drivers ask before booking a tow
Most questions are about drive times from Linden, whether the fee changes by town, the Turnpike and Parkway, and where the car ends up; the fee is $149 by phone or $129 online, with mileage quoted on the call.
Do you really tow in every town in Middlesex County?
Yes, all twenty-five, from Carteret and Woodbridge in the north to Cranbury and Plainsboro in the south. One dispatcher on (908) 666-3168 takes the call for all of them and sends the nearest truck.
Where are your trucks coming from?
Our yard is in Linden, in Union County, a short drive north of the Middlesex line. Trucks that are already out on jobs in the county are often closer than the yard, and the dispatcher checks before quoting a time.
How long will it take to get to me in the south end of the county?
From the yard, East Brunswick, North Brunswick and Old Bridge are roughly thirty minutes, and Monroe or Cranbury longer. If a truck is already working nearby the wait can be shorter. You hear the honest estimate before you agree.
Is it faster if I am near Woodbridge or Carteret?
Yes. Carteret and Avenel are about eight minutes from the yard and Woodbridge about twelve, so the north end of Middlesex gets our quickest arrivals.
Does the price go up if I am farther from Linden?
The booking fee does not: $149 by phone or $129 when you book online, in every Middlesex town. Mileage is measured from your car to where it is going, and it is quoted on the call.
I do not know which town I am in. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Route 1 and Route 18 cross several towns within a few miles. Give the road, the direction and a store, exit or cross street, and the dispatcher places you on the map.
My car broke down on the Turnpike near Exit 9. Can you come get it?
On the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway the shoulder itself is served by the Turnpike Authority's authorized garages; book with us anyway, and once the authorized truck has the car off the highway we take it from the exit or the garage's lot to the shop or driveway you choose, at the same flat quoted price.
What about the Garden State Parkway on the Driscoll Bridge?
Turnpike and Parkway shoulders are served by the Authority's authorized garages. Book with us and we take the car from the exit or the garage's lot. Once the car is at the Sayreville or Woodbridge side of the bridge, our truck takes over.
Can you tow from Route 1 near Menlo Park Mall?
Yes, Route 1 is a direct dispatch for us. Tell the dispatcher the direction and the nearest store or jughandle, and the truck enters from the correct side of the divider.
My car died in a Rutgers parking lot. Can you get in?
Yes. Tell the dispatcher which campus (College Avenue, Busch, Livingston or Cook/Douglass) and the lot name or number. A jump or a lockout is one flat price, and a tow goes to the shop you pick.
Will you take the car to my own mechanic even if it is in another town?
Yes. The car goes where you tell us: a shop in the same town, a dealer across the county, or your driveway. The mileage for that trip is quoted before dispatch.
Do you tow to Staten Island or Monmouth County?
Yes, as a destination. Staten Island is across the Outerbridge Crossing from Perth Amboy, and Monmouth County starts just south of Old Bridge. Trips well beyond the county are quoted as a long distance tow.
Can you handle a box truck or a tractor at Raritan Center?
Yes. Medium and heavy-duty units work Raritan Center, the Carteret industrial areas, Hadley Road and the Route 130 warehouses. Heavy-duty work is priced on the call, and businesses can open an account on net terms.
Do you charge extra at night or on holidays?
No. The booking fee and the mileage are the same at 3 a.m. on a holiday as on a weekday afternoon. There is no fuel surcharge either.
Is there a storage fee if you tow my car?
No. We have no storage lot. Every tow ends at your shop, dealer or home, so there is nothing to store and nothing to release.
My battery is dead in the Metuchen station lot. Do I need a tow?
Probably not. A jump start is one flat price with no mileage. If the battery will not hold, the driver can tow the car from the same visit.
Can you help if I get a flat on Route 18 in East Brunswick?
Yes. A flat tire change is one flat price with your spare. With no usable spare, the truck can carry the car to a tire shop, with the mileage quoted first.
Do you tow electric and all-wheel-drive cars?
Yes, on a flatbed, with all four wheels off the road. Mention the drivetrain on the call so the right truck is sent.
What happens after an accident on Route 35 in Perth Amboy?
Once police clear the scene, the driver photographs the car, loads it, and takes it to the body shop you choose. You receive an itemized receipt to send to your insurer.
What payment do you take?
Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash. Fleets and repair shops can be set up on net terms with one monthly invoice.
Do I need a membership or a roadside plan?
No. Anyone can call. If you do have a plan, pay us and send them the itemized receipt for reimbursement.
Is there a cheaper way to book?
Yes. Booking online costs $129 instead of $149, which saves $20. If you are on a busy road, calling is faster.
